Meet the Team
Dr LEE HEALEY FCCA – DIRECTOR
Lee is our Principal Accountant and first qualified with ACCA in 2001 and since 2005 has been on board with the previous incarnations of the company. In 2015 Lee became Director and Manager of Cooper Healey Merthyr Tydfil Accountants and is keen to develop and expand the company with new ideas and ventures. Prior to working here Lee worked with large accountancy firms in Newport and Cardiff after his initial training in his native Yorkshire. Pre accountancy days he completed a PhD in Ceramic Processing at Birmingham University. In April 2016 Lee completed the triple three peaks challenge, walking nine mountains in three days, raising over £1200 for the Meningitis Research Foundation. This is in addition to previous challenges completed for charity over recent years and undoubtedly there will be more challenges to come. In his spare time Lee works on a variety of home improvement projects, enjoys walking and travelling.
LAURA STEVENSON ACCA – CLIENT MANAGER
Laura is one of our main Client Managers who started September 2009 after gaining her AAT qualification and became ACCA qualified in 2018. Laura covers a large client base with a variety of specific accountancy requirements. Prior to joining us Laura worked as a Customer Service Administrator for a large brand company. Outside of work Laura spends time with her family and has a keen interest in healthy living and keep fit.
EMMA REYNOLDS – CLIENT MANAGER
Emma joined the practice in December 2010 having previously worked in accounting and small business. Emma is our VAT Client Manager with a substantial client base of varied clients and is overseeing the transition to Making Tax Digital. She is AAT qualified and working towards completing her ACCA training, busy studying and sitting exams. Emma has taken part in many charity fund raisers both with the team and outside of work. In her spare time, she enjoys walking and home projects.
CAROLINE GARSIDE – ADMINISTRATION/MARKETING
Caroline first started in October 2008 and up to July 2014 was our Payroll Administrator, after a year abroad, she re-joined the team in November 2015. Caroline is now our Office Administrator and currently working towards Marketing Qualifications. Before working with us Caroline has experience of a wide variety of businesses including small family run business, local council departments and insurance companies. In her time off Caroline spends time with her family and works on DIY projects.
MICHELLE DAVIES - DATA ENTRY CLERK
Michelle joined our team in April 2018 and is assistant to our main VAT client manager, liaising with clients, processing records in preparation for quarterly returns in addition to general maintenance of records and data input. Michelle has over 27 years’ experience within a customer service and administrative role providing her with a wide range of skills. In her spare time Michelle enjoys travelling, reading and spending time with her family.
Stacy Cartwright - Data Entry Clerk
Stacey started with Cooper Healey in April 2018 and now maintains the input of records and data, general administration and client relations, vital to assist two of our client managers in their roles. Previously Stacey has been employed in banking, financial services and customer relations. Outside of work Stacey likes to travel and enjoys skiing and has a keen interest in live music.
Chris Cooper BA, ACCA – Director
Chris Cooper is our Principal Accountant in the Cardiff office who joined with us in 2012 in Merthyr, and became Director and Manager of our Cardiff practice in 2015. FCCA qualified in 2012 Chris has worked in the accounts business since 2002, he then went on to be self-employed for a number of years before coming on board with us. When not busy with work Chris enjoys time with his family, swimming and reading.
CARLEY POWELL ACCA – CLIENT MANAGER
Carley is one of our Client Managers who joined us in September 2013, she is currently busy studying and sitting exams for her ACCA qualifications. Carley had her own business before coming on board with us which, with her Business degree, gives her great insight into small business and self-employment issues. Carley is a keen walker and has taken part in the Three Peaks Challenge for charity, she also enjoys time away with family and outdoor activities.
Dr Peter Ham – Senior Auditor
Peter joined our team in August 2015 with more than 40 years’ experience and expertise in accountancy and audit. Peter manages our specialist branch Cooper Healey Audit Services covering both our Cardiff and Merthyr practices. In free time Peter enjoys time with his family and is a keen walker.
Karen Tucker – Payroll Manager
Karen started working in our Cardiff office July 2015 and is our Payroll Manager overseeing the running and processing of our clients payroll needs. Prior to joining us Karen worked within payroll for the National Assembly for Wales, Smiles Dental, KTS Owens Thomas Accountants and Tesco Stores Ltd and qualified as a Payroll Technician (CIPP) in August 2015. Outside of work Karen enjoys spending time with family and friends, shopping, reading and going to the theatre.
ABIGAIL GEEN – PENSIONS SUPERVISOR
In May 2018 Abigail came on board at the Cardiff office to oversee the administration of the Pension Auto Enrolment Service that we provide to our clients. Working closely with the Payroll Manager Abigail provides assistance to clients through the initial stages of the process and gives ongoing support, liaising with clients’ own payroll providers where necessary. Previously Abigail was employed in HR within the British Armed Forces, working in several countries abroad during her service. Outside of work Abigail enjoys time with her family and social events with friends.
